Apollo is a leading engineering company both in Sustainable Energy production and Carbon Energy production. In the Carbon Energy sector, Apollo supports a range of services across Exploration and Production, Asset Life Extension, Electrification, Decommissioning & Repurposing, Marine & Drilling and Decarbonisation & Emissions Reduction. As part of the ongoing strategy for growth, Apollo is recruiting a Business Development Director for the Carbon Energy stream.  This person will direct a team in realising the orders and expansive targets whilst being based from the Aberdeen office.

Job purpose

Reporting to the Carbon Energy Director, you will manage and supervise a business development (sales and marketing) team responsible for development and management of client relationships in order to develop a cohesive sales pipeline.  You will have responsibility in setting strategy for the business stream and its subsequent execution.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Carbon Energy Business Development team to meet and exceed business stream orders targets and ensure coordinated sales effort across all office locations
  • Play a key role in business stream strategy and objective setting
  • Responsible for development of client relationships in the sector that can map to potential export locations
  • Identification of target clients supported with structured plans to achieve a cohesive sales pipeline
  • Provide Business Development performance metrics against stream KPI’s to Apollos leadership team
  • Provide expert advice and experience to the Directors and Management team
  • Developing and driving new opportunities
  • Maximising of Apollo brand in the market
  • Performing their day to day duties to the best of their ability and in compliance with Apollo’s HSEQ processes and procedures
  • Manage business stream engineering proposals, reports, ITTs and schedules meeting the customer requirements and all interested parties including liaison with engineering

Essential requirements and qualifications:

  • Suitable business development experience at a senior level within the industry
  • Educated to degree level
  • Demonstrable ability to maintain and develop new clients and existing client relationships
  • Proven managerial track record

  • Proven people management and communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
  • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced team environment
  • Evidence of a commitment to continual learning and professional development
