We currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical team lead to join our Aberdeen office.

Job Purpose

  • Act as lead engineer in Mechanical related scopes for the oil and gas consultancy
  • Supervise and manage a team of engineers responsible for the technical execution of engineering design/analysis projects using professional technical expertise, experience and competence
  • Support technical and commercial bids and other business development activities
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers as required

Qualifications and skills

  • Diverse mechanical engineering background that could include:
    • Rotating and static machinery
    • Working knowledge and experience of UK and internationally recognised codes of practice for pressure systems, E.g. BS EN 13445, PD 5500 and ASME VIII, ASME B31-3
    • Competent in the use of design and analysis software, such as Ansys, Mathcad, Finglow, Caesar II
    • Able to produce hand calculations as part of design reports or to support analysis
    • Range of mechanical equipment backgrounds
    • Interfacing and knowledge of related disciplines including piping and pipelines
    • Experience in the onshore/offshore oil & gas industry and/or the petrochemicals industry is preferable
    • Appreciation of package management and practical fabrication requirements
  • Relevant engineering degree
  • Ideally chartered or actively working towards chartered status
  • Proven people management and communications skills (written and verbal)

Accountability, roles and responsibilities

  • The post holder will report to the Consultancy Manager
  • Accountable for the Consultancy mechanical disciplines technical performance, productivity and delivery
  • Resource management for the Consultancy mechanical discipline
  • Performing their day to day duties to the best of their ability and in compliance with Apollo’s HSEQ processes and procedures
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers as required including target setting and appraisals
  • Support technical and commercial bids and other business development content

Duties

  • Assist business development by engaging with clients and potential clients to generate leads and enquiries under the direction of line management
  • Execute all engineering projects in compliance legislation, codes and standards and compliance with Apollo’s processes and procedures
  • Work closely with Apollo design team in the generation of drawings for fabrication/manufacture
  • Produce engineering proposals, reports, quality plans, ITTs and schedules in accordance with Apollo’s project commitments as required by Apollo’s clients and all interested parties
  • Work to be normally performed at Apollo’s offices but there may be requirements to work at client offices and/or offshore in occasional circumstances
  • Report to and meet with clients and all interested parties on a project basis
  • Provide leadership and mentorship and guidance to less experienced staff
