The transition to 2050

Apollo is pleased to be attending the SNS 2020 conference this year.  Normally held at the home of The Canaries at Carrow Road in Norwich, the event was rescheduled to this week and is being held online.

The focus this year is very much forward facing, and tackles many of the key topics of the Energy Transition.  EEEGR have put together an agenda covering 2 key streams – “Oil and Gas” and “Renewables”, with both streams being joined together at the end of each session for a full industry overview.

Day 1’s agenda covers topics around Energy Transition providing an opportunity for oil and gas to bounce back in adverse trading conditions, the role of renewables in green recovery and how operators can reduce their emissions.

Day 2 provides a focus on the role of Hydrogen and shines a light on the diverse workforce that will be required to achieve the ambitions of a net zero basin.  It is stated that “over the next 30 years, over 400,000 jobs in the energy sector will be needed to assist with the transition to Net Zero” and at Apollo, we are planning on playing our part.

The formula for this event is interesting in that all facets of the energy industry are working together to promote solutions which will meet the energy demands of the future, and provide a focus on how everyone in the industry has a role to play in making the Net Zero basin a reality.

Apollo has been a key engineering partner to both oil and gas operators, and renewable energy players for a decade.

Apollo’s current roles are diverse, ranging from a large FEED study for a producing asset being extended for its late life conditions to drilling rig upgrades and modifications to an FPSO.  These hydrocarbon projects sit alongside scopes connected to the current ScotWind development leasing round, a wave energy capture device development and marine analysis to enable the deployment of technology in the harsh ocean environment.
